About Assam:-

Assam is a state located in the North-Eastern part of India and part of “Seven Sisters”. Assam became the separate Province in 1874 with Shillong it’s Capital and it has total of 35 Districts. Assam has the population of 3,12,05,576(According to 2011 census) with the Rural Population of  2,68,07,034 and Urban Population of 43,98,542 (2011 Census). Assam has the Male Population of 1,59,39,443 and Female Population of 1,52,66,133 (2011 Census) with the Sex Ratio of 958 Female 1000 Male. Assam has the Density of 398 per Sq. km and Literacy Rate of 72.19% (Data According To 2011 Census).

Assam is 16th largest and Largest North-Eastern state in India with Area of “78,438 Sq. km”. Assam shares it’s border with country like Bhutan and Bangladesh and states like Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Meghalaya and West Bengal. The humidity that is brought into Assam by the southwest monsoons, shower an average annual rainfall of 120 inches or more on the Brahmaputra valley and the surrounding region.

Assam, situated at the foothills of the eastern Himalayas, is the largest State in northeast India and lies in the middle reach of the river Brahmaputra and Barak. The State accounts for nearly 2.4% of India‘s total geographical area The Brahmaputra basin covers an area of 5,80,000 sq. km out of which 70,634 sq. km falls within Assam.
