About Meghalaya:-

Meghalaya, is place of  the India’s cleanest village “Mawlyannong” and also the place where the bridges made up of roots system of living tress in “Cherrapunji”. Meghalaya was formed on 21st January, 1972 by carving two district from Assam. Meghalaya is 23rd largest state in India in terms of population with the total population of 29,66,889. The state has the Rural Population of 23,71,434 and the Urban population of 5,95,455 with the population Density of 132 per Sq. km. Meghalaya has the Male population of 14,91,832 and the Female population of 14,75,057 with Sex Ratio of 989 Females per 1000 Males. Meghalaya has total of 3 Divisions and 12 Districts with the Literacy Rate of 74.43%. (DATA ACCORDING TO CENSUS 2011)

Geography of Meghalaya:-

Meghalaya’s village known as “Mawsynram” hold the highest amount of rainfall in the world with the Average Annual Rainfall of “11,871 mm”. It is the 22nd Largest State in terms of  Area with the total Area of 22,429 Sq. km. Meghalaya shares its borders with the state of Assam and the Nation of Bangladesh. Meghalaya mainly consists of three hills: i) Jaintia Hills ii) Khasi Hills and iii) Garo Hills. It has the India’s largest Natural cave “Krem Liat Prah” in Jaintia Hills. The state has the from 4,000 ft to 6,000 ft (1,220 metres to 1,830 metres). It has also the India’s highest Plunge Waterfall “Nohkalikai Falls” with the height of 1,115 ft (340 metres). “Shillong Peak” is the highest peak in Meghalaya with the height of 6,446 ft (1,965 metres).
