About Odisha:-

Odisha, is has the world’s longest Earthen Dam and Asia Largest Artificial Lake “Hirakund Dam” and testing sites of our missiles such as Agni, Prithivi etc, with “APJ Abdul Kalam”. The state of Odisha was formed 1st April, 1936 consisting of Odia-speaking people. Odisha is the 11th largest state in terms of population with the total population of 4,19,74,218. Odisha has the Urban Population of 70,05,497 and the Rural Population of 3,49,68,721 with the total Density of 270 per Sq. km. The State has the Male Population of 2,12,12,136 and the Female Population of 2,07,62,082 with the Sex-Ratio of 979 Females per 1000 Males. The state has the total of 30 Districts and the Literacy Rate of 72.87%. (DATA ACCORDING TO CENSUS 2011)

Geography of Odisha:-

Odisha, is home place of the “Chilika Lake” as the home of the many endangered “Irrawaddy Dolphins” and thousands of Migratory Bird. Odisha is Located in East Coast of India with its coast is open to the “Bay of Bengal”. Odisha is 8th largest state in India in terms of Area with total Area of 1,55,707 Sq. km. The state shares its border with many states like, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and West Bengal. It has also the coastline of 480.4 km. 

Odisha can be divides into Five Major Physiographical Regions:-

  • The Utkal Plains or the Coastal Plains of the east
  • The Central Plateaus
  • The Central Mountainous and highlands Region
  • The West Rolling Upland
  • The main flood plains

Odisha has the average elevation of 900 metres above sea level with elevation ranges from -1 metres (Bay of Bengal) to 1,672 metres(Source). As the highest point of is “Deomali Peak” with the height of 1,672 metres.
