About Sikkim:-

Sikkim, It is home to Asia’s second highest suspension bridge “Singshore Bridge” with the length of 198 metres and on the height of 220 metres. “Siddheswar Dham” with its main attraction is 108ft Lord Shiva Statue is surrounded with the replica of all the “Jyotirlingas” and “Char Dhams”. Sikkim became the 22nd state on 16th May, 1975 before that Sikkim was a independent nation then in 1974, Prime Minister of Sikkim appeals Indian Parliament to recoganize it as a state. Sikkim is India’s smallest state in terms population with the population of 6,10,577. The state has the Rural Population of 4,57,017 and the Urban population of 1,53,560 with the Total Density of 86 per Sq. km. It has the Male Population of 3,23,070 and the Female Population of 2,87,507 with the Sex Ratio of 890 Females per 1000 Males. The state has the total of 6 Districts and the Literacy Rate of 81.42%. Geography of Sikkim:-

Sikkim, has so many hot water springs act as the Natural spa like, Yume Samdong Hot spring, Taram Hot Spring etc, and state is home to the 552 different bird species and 690 butterflies species. Sikkim is the second smallest state in terms of land area, with the total area of 7,096 Sq. km. The state is located in Northeast India with its border with major countries like, China, Nepal and Bhutan and shares its border with West Bengal.

Sikkim is located in Himalayas with the average elevation 280 metres (980ft) to 8,586 metres (28,169ft). The Peak of Kangchenjunga is the 3rd Highest Peak in the world and the state highest point with the height of 8,586 metres. The state has total of 28 mountains, more than 80 glaciers, 227 high-altitude lakes and more than 100 rivers and streams.

The state has the two main rivers:-

  1. Teesta Rivers
  2. Rangeet Rivers
